My Story

I’m Sandra Mazliah.  I split my time between Atlanta, Georgia and Lake Placid, New York. I live with my husband, my daughter-in-love, and my two amazing grandchildren.

Lake Placid is where I draw much of my inspiration for my nature pieces—the mountains, lakes, and changing seasons all find their way into my work. Before becoming a full-time artist, I spent many years as an employment attorney in Washington, D.C. After retiring and moving to Atlanta, I finally gave myself permission to pursue my lifelong love of making things.

 

My "studio" is Decatur Makers, a non-profit maker space located in downtown Decatur Georgia.  This vibrant amazing community of hobbyists, crafters, and artists make everything and anything using all mediums including metal, wood, textiles, etc.  All of our members are a constant inspiration to me.

Originally from New York City, I bring the energy of the city together with the calm of the mountains and the warmth of the South. My hope is that each piece I create brings a sense of joy, peace, and connection to the people who live with it.

When I’m not  at the Maker Space you’ll often find me enjoying riding bikes with my husband, playing games with my granddaughter, adventuring with my grandson, reading, learning a new tool (my latest love is my 3D printer and the wood lathe) or exploring the outdoors.
