National Park Visitation Map

If you've visited me while I've been out and about, you've probably seen my "Travel Maps". These include National Park Visitation Maps, Baseball Stadium Maps, The State Tracker, State Park Visitation Maps, and other Stadium Maps.

As I always advise, these Maps are not my original computer design, but that of a talented computer designer who sells his work so that others can make these products. After making a few for family and friends, I had so many requests, I decided to add them to my general Festival and Craft Markets' offerings. Originally, I did not sell them online, but only at these in-person events. However, I have now had many requests to add these to my on-line offerings.

As I've discussed with potential buyers who tell me that they've seen these "elsewhere", each person who has decided to make and sell these have decided on materials and processes that work for them, and then have priced their work accordingly. None of these are right are wrong, you need to decide which is the perfect balance of quality and cost point for you. I have chosen to make these in accordance with the quality values I have for my other pieces.

Mine are made, in general, from four layers of wood - a backing, a background, the Unites States Map, and a frame. These are cut from 1/8th" inch thick sheets, made from plywood core, withreal wood veneer (maple, cherry, sapale, and walnut), on both sides, and that is finished to a glossy shine and smoothness. The veneer quality is the same on both sides. The color pieces are either painted MDF or stained baltic birch plywood, and then finished with a protective coating. Due to the natural nature of wood, no 2 sheets will have identical grain.
